Monday's Happy Moment

Monday's Happy Moment had to be so silly. I made tonight's dinner last night. I was inspirationlised by work who made meatballs for the children so I made some with garlic, herbs and onion and extra lean minced beef. They are in the fridge to go in the oven when I get home and then have with spaghetti and a tomato sauce. Also the fact that I may get my Monday's back as from next week sounds divine to me as I am so exhausted this morning. Here's to some happy moments today too.

Sunday's Happy Moment

I have to be honest. I don't think I had a happy moment for Sunday. The whole day seemed to go nicely. We just spent time as a family before heading off to my mum's for Sunday dinner which was nice. I did buy a watch for work. Nothing special but a nice wee simple one for when I am at work and can't see a clock. It was nice to chill for once and not feel like we were clock watching.

I've been a grump

I woke up with a certain little boy in between us this morning. It's something which wakes me up in a bad mood, so it wasn't a great start to my day.

Managed to get Eilidh to ballet and flamenco this morning well in time. Then went to cafe nero. Now working with children as my job does mean I don't always want to be surrounded by other children so wasn't best pleased to arrive and find a male customer videoing 2 boys walloping my son. So after standing directly in his way of the boys he stopped filming but him and the other male allowed these 2 boys to run wild round the coffee shop. There is a time and a place for children to run about and I do feel in a coffee shop there are too many dangers and that is what soft plays are for. So my happiness was overjoyed when along came mother who discovered the boys running wild and having spilled orange juice everywhere. Yet still no one told the boys to sit down due to the dangers. One day those parents will learn the hard way.

Went back to pick Eilidh up and one mother's attitude to Murray daring to need the toilet and get their before her daughter had me off in another rant. The child moments before had been running wild around. I told her to stop being so pathetic. Felt so much better after that wee rant to her.

We shopped in the disney shop today. Murray got a golf set. But never mind he's only hit Eilidh about 3 times. Eilidh got her high school musical outfit for the show.

So will tomorrow be a better day? If someone tells Murray to be quiet we may well have success hehehe.

Saturday's Happy Moment

Bit of a ridiculous one this but we went to the shopping centre for lunch today. Normally I let the children have a junk food lunch but they had decided before we got there that they would have sandwiches. Murray started grumping for a BK but I said no and he did grump but when we got lunch he ate all his turkey and cucumber sandwiches and Eilidh ate all her cheese and cucumber ones. I was very impressed with how well they ate lunch and the fact they then ate their fruit provided with lunch. So it goes to show they will eat what they are given sometimes. But was pleased we managed to steer away from the junk food for once.

Friday's Happy Moment

On a Friday (somehow I got landed) I do the P1 Library for Murray's year. As a nursery nurse I am more than capable of handling a group of 10 or more children for a story but I do find some of these P1's like to talk through my story. But they are learning hehe. Today the head came down showing people about and stopped to talk to me and say how much she's seen Murray come out of his shell and start to stand up for himself and gain some confidence. I am so pleased to hear that as he is quiet and shy and doesn't cope all that well in unfamiliar situations. Then he made me so proud by knowing that the person who draws the pictures in a story book is an Illustrator. I feel like I spend my story time explaining about authors and picture drawers lol. So that's my happy moment for today. Oh also I have 2 more weeks work at the nursery I've been at for 4 weeks now. I'm in the money whoooooo.

Happy Moments Challenge

Happy Moments - My friend Gail has decided to have a happy moment on her blog each day. So I've pinched the picture and will try to add a Happy Moment Each Day. I'd love to see other's who blog telling off their happy moments.
Thursday's Happy Moment was to see my gran dressed and sitting up in my mum's living room after her horrible fall last week at my mum's. My gran has always featured heavily in my life and the thought that she wouldn't survive this fall scared me. She will always be a big part of my life but I'm not ready for her to join the angels yet. Long may her being here for a good few extra years.

My Granny

My Gran, Harriet who was 80 in December had a particularly nasty fall. She was at my mum's and as she walked out the door she missed the steps and fell right out the door, smashing her head off the slabs and breaking her wrist. She was in quite a bad way. Thankfully she is home and slowly starting to do things but will probably take a bit of time to recover. But thankfully she is home and we haven't lost her like we thought we would have at one point.

For The Attention of all Parents

I stole this from my Friend Gail

Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve.
And the first thing he said was " DON'T !"
"Don 't what ? " Adam replied.
"Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said.
"Forbidden fruit ? We have forbidden fruit ? Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit ! " " No Way ! " "Yes way ! "
"Do NOT eat the fruit ! " said God.
"Why ? "
"Because I am your Father and I said so !
" God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked !
"Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit ? " God asked.
"Uh huh," Adam replied.
"Then why did you ? " said the Father.
"I don't know," said Eve.
"She started it ! " Adam said.
"Did not ! "
"Did too ! "
"DID NOT ! "
Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own. Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdomandthey haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself. If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you ?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT !

1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.

3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said

5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own

6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY: Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day

AND FINALLY: IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

"TAKE TWO ASPIRIN" AND "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN"!!!!!

2 weeks on

We're in to week 3 of January. That means there is a birthday on the way. Found last week hard going with working a Monday. For the last 2 years I've not worked a Monday and it's been a great start to the week. By the time I go to work on Tuesday I'm refreshed for the week ahead.

Being out of the house by 7.45am, round to the childminders then on to work arriving 5 minutes after when I am supposed to start with the teacher tutting. But it has been nice having a place of work and my own wee area. By the time 11.30am arrived on Wednesday, I couldn't wait to get going home and relax for 3 hours until I picked up child number 2 and hung about for child number 1.

This could be my last week there and I have to say that I am sad. I like the other Nursery Nurses and I am changing my mind about the teacher. I think it's just the way she is and that she doesn't hate me. I've enjoyed my time there and in one way want my Monday's back but in the other am enjoying the fun of being part of a team and doing the job I want to do.

As soon as I finish on Wednesday this week, I have to get cracking with my baking. Eilidh will be 8 on Friday and what started as a birthday lunch for 2 is now 13! Why the heck didn't I just arrange to meet them all at McDonald's? HAHA. So proper birthday lunch of Sandwiches, Sausage rolls, Sausages, Jelly and ice cream will be happening. I have got make your own party bags and instead of cake we are decorating biscuits to take home instead.

Happy Birthday to Chris, Eilidh's Godfather. It's a birthday celebration tinged with sadness as the baby who would be their godson, passed into the arms of the angels a year ago today. Thinking of his mum and dad on the 1st anniversary. They had 9 wonderful days with him and hoping that he is waving down at them from Heaven.

Back to Normality

Things went back to normal this week. Eilidh and Murray went back to school on Monday. Both seemed quite pleased to be back at school. Eilidh's project this year is the Eygptian's. She seems quite keen about it all. Murray... well we're never quite sure what he's doing as he "can't remember!"

Anyway I had a lazy day on Monday. Did nothing and felt lazy the whole day lol. Tuesday, I dropped the children at the childminder and came home. Was debating whether or not I should work when my work phoned. I got the option of 3 schools so took the closest school as it was all day and then half day on Wednesday. Turns out I'll be there Monday/Tuesday all day and until 11.30am on a Wednesday until the end of January. Quite good as it means I know I have a full pay plus extra for January's pay. Makes life so much easier when I know where I am working and how long for. It could be longer too.

It snowed on Monday early morning but the snow had melted here. But in other parts it was very deep. When I went to work on Tuesday there was snow which had turned to ice and was slippy but the children had a great time digging it up and putting it in to buckets. Led on to us doing ice in the water tray too.

Thursday turned into another lazy day with me lounging about. It rained the majority of the day and I decided we would walk to school and got soaked. Took ages for the wet stuff to dry.

Last Saturday Eilidh went to a party at Build a Bear in town for 2 of her friends. They were sharing their party. My mum had gone to the sales and got her a gorgeous dress from Monsoon. So I got some shoes and a top and she wore it to the party. They seemed to have a ball and then they went to McDonald's for tea. Met them on the bus on the way home and they sang all the way home on the bus. We took Murray to the new Hamley's toy shop inside Jenners. Could have spent a long long time there.

We're organising Eilidh's birthday. She's getting a bike, Barbie MP3 player and a webkinz.
We were having lunch for a couple of people but it seems to have ended up with 13 children and possibly 2 babies coming. Have got lunch to serve, then have make your own party bags and planes and butterflies for them. Need to do a major clean up for it all.

Anyway am off to Carlisle tomorrow for a girlie lunch. It's one friend's birthday and one friend has announced she is getting married by May so we're having an early hen do for her. Looking forward to buffet chinese. Not the best for my diet but on the diet trial so far I've lost 2lb.s Typically, I had to weigh in this morning and my constipation was dreadful and this afternoon things have sorted themselves. Lets hope I have a better loss next week lol.
