25 Random things about me

1. I met David on a blind date. We'd both been told we liked each other and were set up. Turned out neither of us had said anything of the sort but 12 years later we're still together.

2. I worked in America and was dreadfully homesick. But desperately want to go back to those days for fun with all the guys and girls we met there.

3. My names for children with David were always going to be Matthew and Rachael. But we didn't use them as we couldn't agree on them.

4. I didn't choose the name Murray. I heard it on the news. But I am still no enamoured by it but think it suits it very well.

5. The flight to Florida for our honeymoon was out first proper holiday and flight together.

6. I have a dislike of baking with children as the end products do not end up as perfectionist as I would like. At work I have to allow it to happen. At home I refuse. I cringe when I allow my children to do things.

7. I wish I was able to draw, but I am horrendous at drawing yet my 6 year old is a fantastic drawer.

8. I like to cook and make mess but not tidy up and I love to try new ideas.

9. I lost 3 and a half stone in 10 months and loved it. Wish I could get into it again.

10. I am addicted to diet pepsi

11. I love the smell of other people's food but am not good at eating my own food as it taste's so blande and minging

12. I'm very lazy and would rather stay at home than go to work.

13. I have 12 Claire's on my list but 3 of them are spelled Clare

14. I love holidays to Disney but need at least a month to spend out there.

15. I hate swimming and I'm not good at it but do it to keep fit.

16. I am very selfish and only ever think of myself cos I just want to be me sometimes and not someone's mum/wife/sister and not everything else that I get called.

17. I must be the only person to go on a movement and handling course for work and come back and directly move wrongly and hurt my back!

18. When I met David, I had a feeling he would be the one I spent the rest of my life with.

19. I love "old" music and seem to never get my head round current music.

20. I like to use chopsticks at a chinese restaurant as it makes me eat slower and not shovel all my food into me making me stuffed.

21. I can read a book which interests me in a day.

22. I adore primark for shopping because I can get such bargains in there.

23. I've always wanted to go to Dublin but not to drink but to experience the culture but always get strange looks for not wanting to get drunk.

24. I love my husband so much and the other day kept looking at him thinking "I love him so much!" for the first time in a year.

25. I want to be 30 again. It was my most favourite age. I had a wonderful year.

Happy Birthday Eilidh

9 years ago today I was very very poorly with pre-eclampsia. I got induced on the 24th at 2.30pm and at 7.10am on the 25th a 5lb 4oz girl was born. Although we wouldn't be without her she can try our patience at times.

We're off to the Glasgow science centre for her birthday with her godparents and then we are going to Nando's for dinner. We had a family party today and had a ball. The cake above was gorgeous. Thanks to Coscto

A conspiracy

A Conspiracy?

Here is another of those funny e-mails that wing their way around the world. This was a new one to me.

THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY!
We Must Stop This Immediately

Have you noticed that stairs are getting steeper . Groceries are heavier. And, everything is farther away. Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was dumbfounded to discover how long our street had become!

And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones. They speak in whispers all the time! If you ask them to speak up they just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader?

I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age. On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am. I ran into an old friend the other day and she has aged so much that she didn't even recognize me.

I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection well, REALLY NOW - even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!

Another thing, everyone drives so fast these days! You're risking life and limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them. All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and swerve in my rear view mirror.

Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else would they suddenly start labeling a size 10 or 12 dress as 18 or 20? Do they think no one notices?

The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank. Do they think I actually 'believe' the number I see on that dial? HA! I would never let myself weigh that much!

Just who do these people think they're fooling?

I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on -- but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed the phone books in such small type that no one could ever find a number in there!

All I can do is pass along this warning:
WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!
Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to suffer these awful indignities.

Snowing

It was dry when we walked to school. Then it started to rain and finally it is snowing. Will be fun doing the walking home from school today.

Been Poorly

Last week after work, I had a pounding headache which I put down to a draughty room. Headache went on and off for days on end. Monday sore head again and just as I got ready to leave for school run, I realised I had a rash but couldn't see it. The rash got itchier and itchier. Took a visit to the doctor who reckoned I had a virus. But after looking at my rash wasn't sure what it was due to it looking like it was the hair folicles which were inflammed. Things have calmed down now.

The TV I blew up before christmas is unrepairable. So we have been refunded the money and we're of to buy a fridge.

Been quite boring here otherwise. Eilidh has been put forward for Grade 1 ballet exam in March eeeek. Means extra rehersals. Her birthday plans are on track and everything is going well.

I can't believe that 9 years ago I was in a maternity ward with pre-eclampsia. It was all very scary and I hated that my maternity leave was being spent in hospital as I left at 4.30pm and by 6pm was in hospital. Those were scary moments. 9 more days till the big day.
