I feel that for the last 24 hours all I have done is put a washing on, Taken a washing out and hung it on the line. My 4th load is in and the 5th is sitting waiting to be in once the bedding all comes out. I was getting annoyed with the washing machine this morning over the fact it was taking so long then because the door locked and wouldn't open. In the end, I put it on another spin and the door opened. I had planned to do all the bedding yesterday but I went to bed!
I was amazed at how quickly the washing dried. I hung a load out before I went to collect Murray and by the time I got back the wind had dried my washing.
I often look at my front loading machine and giggle to myself. We had friends who had relatives in Florida where they have top loaders. Their nieces used to love sitting in front of their gran's front loading washing machine watching all the washing zoom round, pointing out each other's clothes to one another. It was such a novelty. I vaguely remember someone telling me my sister had to guard her front loader in OZ as they weren't common over there and were of great interest to burglars as they would go for a lot of money.
If you've ever seen a scottish play called The Steamie, you'll know the steamie was the wash house where women would take their washing in the pram down to the steamie and get it all done while having a laugh and a carry on. It's a shame we longer have the community spirit which was once a high factor of every day life. People are just too busy to anything or spend time with people. Maybe one day we can all just take a bit of time to spend some time with someone we haven't sat down and chatted to for a while.
